The foundation is a grassroots not-for-profit social enterprise focused on empowering and assisting those with hidden learning disabilities. It takes a community of support to keep doing our work. Together we are strong, alone we are nothing and with your help, we can change the world for young people and adults with dyslexia so they can live healthier, happier more connected lives.

We know that:

  • 1 in 10 people have dyslexia
  • Dyslexic adults are 46% more likely to attempt suicide compared to the general population
  • Up to 40% of incarcerated people have been identified as dyslexic

Our challenge:

We are increasingly concerned for the wellbeing and achievement of Dyslexic individuals in the current pandemic environment, as transitions to online/remote platforms in education and work settings may deepen disadvantage.

We are finding it increasingly difficult to keep providing our support and services in this disrupted environment.

The support we offer people with dyslexia is made possible with the help of people from across the community; people like Karen

Karen told us that the podcasts were her favourite resource. They let her listen in private to stories from the lives of dyslexics like her.

She said: At 56 years old, I have years of experience in the workplace in relation to dyslexia. That can be overwhelming when you take the lid off.  I'm an experienced counsellor and I know there is nothing like hearing your own truth echoed acknowledged and validated.

Listening to the podcasts has helped me make space for the needs of my nervous system. Over the years, I’ve been able to make many improvements to my situation. But the challenges of not being understood or given allowances, and the stress and worry about being judged for my dyslexia - it can feel overwhelming.

That’s the kind of real challenge facing Australians struggling with dyslexia — a hidden disability.

There are many ways that you can support our work. You can give a one-off donation, contribute on a regular schedule, or come together with your community group or in your workplace.

Every donation, no matter the size, can make a difference.  And all donations over $2.00 are tax-deductible.
