Practical tools for working with and supporting students who have dyslexia and specific learning disabilities

The Dear Dyslexic Foundation and ATEND NSW/ACT are excited to be hosting an interactive workshop for teachers, support staff, parents and students.

This workshop will provide participants with the tools and skills they need to help make the learning pathway easier for students with dyslexia and specific learning disabilities who are in upper secondary school, or preparing to enter TAFE or university.

It will increase understanding of how students with learning disabilities think and learn differently from neurotypical learners. This workshop will challenge your beliefs about how people with dyslexia approach learning.

Dr Laura Dickinson from Deakin University and Christine MacJouvelet from the Dear Dyslexic Foundation will be facilitating this workshop to improve your skills and knowledge across a range of topics. The day will cover:

- Identifying the signs of dyslexia in students
- Strategies for students:
- Learning types - Helping students identify their learning preferences - Assistive technology in the classroom
