Whilst on her degree, Cheri Stone was volunteering on the Dyslexia Association of London’s helpline dealing with callers in emotional distress; offering them reassurance and practical support. In this role, she designed and implemented a research program to identify the support needs of adults with dyslexia to assists a funding application.

She has worked as a dyslexia Support Tutor at several organisations including, the Working Men's College, Southbank and Middlesex Universities and The Royal School of Speech and Drama.

She has contributed a chapter on dissertation writing to a book Study Skills for Students with Dyslexia (SAGE study skills series) by Sandra Hargreaves and Jamie Crabb.

She is currently a member of the Executive of the Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE) and part of a Quality Assurance Working Group for the ADSHE Quality Assurance Register.

Knowledge is power and with dyslexic people there is an over-represention in successful careers as entrepreneurs, artists and architects and at the other end of the scale in prison, it is time for us to raise our collective voice.
